Introduction
Luminosity German Pils is brewed by Cabin Brewing Company in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Founded in late 2018, the brewery was established by a team of award-winning homebrewers and professionals, including Darrin Sayers, Jonas Hurtig, and Haydon Dewes. The brewery is located in an industrial area south of downtown Calgary, where it operates a taproom designed to evoke the cozy and nostalgic feeling of a traditional family cabin.
Beer Description
This traditional German style pilsner presents a glorious and gentle golden hue. The sensory profile is defined by delightful spicy and floral aromas on the nose, which are derived from a duo of noble European hops, Hallertauer Mittelfruh and Czech Saaz. On the palate, it is crisp and dry with long lasting bready malt notes and clean flavours provided by a Weihenstephan yeast strain. The body is light to medium, featuring a refined bitterness that slowly builds as you drink. Crafted using 100% German Best Pils malt, this lager offers a balanced and highly drinkable experience. It has an ABV of 5.3% and a bitterness of 40 IBU. There is no information to suggest that this beer is organic.
Food Pairing
The crisp and dry profile of this pilsner makes it an excellent companion for a wide range of light and savoury dishes. It pairs traditionally with German fare such as Bratwurst and Schnitzel, as the carbonation and bitterness help cut through the richness of the meat. The beer's bready malt notes and floral hop character also complement light seafood dishes, including steamed fish, crab, and lobster. For lighter options, consider serving it with fresh summer salads or delicate cheeses such as mozzarella, brie, or mild white cheddar.
