This structured and 'crystalline' red wine originates from Canada, within the prestigious Naramata Bench sub-A.O.C. of the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. Lake Breeze Vineyards, one of the region's historic and benchmark estates established in 1995, benefits from elevated benchland vineyards overlooking Okanagan Lake. Rooted in glacial silt, gravelly loam, and clay-rich soils, the vines experience intense summer sunlight and warm daytime temperatures moderated by the cooling thermal mass of the lake. This unique microclimate allows Syrah to achieve generous fruit concentration and ripe skin phenolics while preserving an electric, mouthwatering natural acidity and an aromatic, savory character.
Wine Description
Lake Breeze Syrah presents a deep, luminous garnet-ruby color in the glass with bright magenta shimmers along the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and complex, delivering an elegant and precisely focused Northern Rhône-style expression of Okanagan terroir. The bouquet opens with an inviting display of wild blackberries, dark plums, and red cherries, seamlessly layered with complex underlays of dried violets, cracked black pepper, smoked meat, cured olives, and a subtle line of toasted French oak spice. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied, sleek, and precisely focused, showcasing a vibrant core of dark stone fruits, blood orange zest, and cocoa nibs. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that cuts cleanly through the mid-palate fruit density. The mouthfeel is linear, athletic, and supple, framed by fine-grained, chalky tannins that glide into a long, dry, and savory finish accented by persistent notes of graphite, baking spices, and forest floor.
